The really despairing piece of info about the before pictures is that they were taken mostly in the early 90's, almost 50 years since the end of WWII. Practically nothing was done in all that time to rebuild or restore anything in East Germany. The after pictures were taken in the early 2000's. Just ten years later. Amazing.
